monopoly
I went to the bank and something happened. something that pretty much everyone wishes would happen to them when they go to the bank. the clerk put that i gave him more money than i actually did. but this didnt happen once, but twice. I go through the line outside and give him some cash and a check to deposit. i got the receipt back and i drove up a little towards the exit before leaving i noticed it said i gave him $30 more cash than i actually did, but he got the check amount right. so i sat there looking at the exit...looking at the parking lot.....exit...parking lot....exit... parking. and i kept thinking. man this is awesome. i should just drive off. its only $30... like they are gunna miss it, right. well the good me said NOPE. so i parked, and went inside, and told them. so the lady went to the guy clerk to correct his error. When i got back into my car i looked over the new transaction receipt. The guy corrected the cash amount that i had given him but this time he added the $30 to the check ammount he received. so now i'm thinkn' maybe its meant to be. maybe god wants me to have this 30 dollars(cheesey i know), but anything that i could think of to rationalize keeping the money. I couldn't think of any reason to keep it. i'm mad at myself for not being creative enough. the only thing that kept going through my mind was integrity. im not writing this to show everyone that im a good person. I'm not. I WANTED to keep the money.
i wrote this b/c its funny.

people dont expect for others to be nice these days. everyone thinks that you are thinking about how to take advantage of them.
when i go to walmart i use the self checkout. one day i forgot to check out my cereal. i went back in to buy it, the man at the door did not believe me. he thought i was playing a joke on him.
like you i couldnt think of a good reason to keep the cereal without paying. and like you I WANTED to keep it!

ya know, you can lay down at night knowing that you have done the right thing and sleep well. folks who cut corners and bend the edges in little stuff eventually mess up later in some really big stuff. great ethics here. you did the right thing. now the boss needs to put that dude emptying trash baskets and away from the cash or they'll be broke soon. nice work, you da man
